Beeple’s NFT sold at Christie’s for $ 69.3 million

British auction house Christie’s has sold a non-fungible token (NFT) by artist Mike Winckelmann, aka Beeple. A total of 353 bids were submitted for the auction.

Everydays: The First 5000 Days went under the hammer for $ 69.3 million. The final bid was $ 60.3 million, but the price also included commissions. The auction house noted that this made Winckelmann one of the most valuable artists living today.

Everydays: The First 5000 Days is a collage of thousands of Winckelmann’s works published online since 2007. Bidding was announced on February 16 – the starting price was $ 100.

At the end of February, Beeple’s Trump NFT token was resold for $ 6.6 million . In December 2020, the artist bailed out $ 582,000 for Crossroad.

In March, Twitter creator Jack Dorsey put up his first NFT tweet for sale. At the time of writing, the maximum bid has reached $ 2.5 million. Dorsey has pledged to donate the proceeds to charity.

As a reminder, an NFT copy of Banksy’s burnt painting “Morons” went under the hammer for 228.69 ETH .
