Nassim Taleb called bitcoin supporters amoebas

Philosopher and author of the cult work “Black Swan” Nassim Taleb again criticized the supporters of the first cryptocurrency. They “think in binary,” he said.

When you invest / trade, you buy & you sell; you increase / decrease; you get stopped out / take profits; you revise dynamically; you protect your tail; you walk away when needed to clear your mind.

Bitcoiners & amoebas think in binary form… & are convinced others must be doing so.

“Once a person defines himself as a supporter of Bitcoin, like a national identity, it becomes an irreversible ideological obligation, not an investment strategy. In fact, it is a religion. You “belong” to the group of amoebas, ”Taleb wrote.

2) And the minute someone defines herself or himself as a “bitcoiner” like a national identity it becomes an irreversible ideological committment not an investment strategy.

Actually it is a religion. You “belong” to a group of amoebas. https://t.co/csFWhFKNjy

When asked about the factors that influenced the change in attitudes towards digital gold, he replied that there was no need for a reason.

Do you need a * reason * to change your mind in investments?

Previously, Nassim Taleb has repeatedly supported bitcoin and criticized the traditional financial system. In February 2019, he gave a lecture in Moscow, where he named the main task of the first cryptocurrency – to scare bankers.

In the summer of 2020, Taleb called the vast majority of Bitcoin maximalists “complete idiots.”

Recall that in February 2021, the philosopher announced the sale of his bitcoins and stated that digital gold did not take place as a means of payment due to high volatility.
