SuperRare’s non-fungible token platform (NFT) has completed its Series A funding round, raising $ 9 million.
The round was led by venture capital firms Velvet Sea Ventures and 1confirmation. They were joined by billionaire Mark Cuban, investors Chamat Palihapitiya and Naval Ravikant, entrepreneur Mark Benioff, Sound Ventures by Ashton Kutcher and Guy Osiri, investment fund SamsungNext and others.
According to SuperRare, the digital art market’s monthly turnover has grown from $ 8,000 in 2018 to $ 25 million in 2021. The platform claims to have helped the artists earn more than $ 30 million.
The head of SuperRare told Decrypt that the platform will spend the raised funds to expand the team, develop a mobile app and explore digital display technology to demonstrate NFT.
According to the press release, chat and personalized channels will also appear on the marketplace.
As a reminder, the developers of the NBA Top Shot NFT platform raised $ 305 million from Michael Jordan and other investors. According to media reports, the project was estimated at $ 2.6 billion.
