In Turkey, a court arrested six people associated with the Thodex cryptocurrency exchange. Among them are top managers of the company, as well as close CEOs of the platform Farouk Fatih Ozer, reports Reuters , citing a representative of the prosecutor’s office.
On April 20, Thodex unexpectedly stopped trading , citing first technical work and then the transfer of the platform to a new partner.
The head of the company left the country and was put on the wanted list . According to media reports, he flew to Albania.
More than 60 people were detained as part of the investigation. Some of them said Ozer’s relatives played an important role in Thodex and were involved in large transactions, Anadolu reports .
Earlier, the Turkish bitcoin exchange Vebitcoin stopped working due to financial difficulties. The authorities blocked the company’s accounts.
Recall that Turkey plans to tighten requirements for cryptocurrency trading platforms and create a centralized custodian bank in order to eliminate the risks of insolvency counterparty in the field of digital assets.
