Russian pleaded guilty to preparing a cyberattack on a corporation from the United States

Russian citizen Yegor Kryuchkov pleaded guilty to conspiracy to organize a cyber attack on a computer network of one of the companies in the state of Nevada. This is reported by the US Department of Justice.

According to the investigation, Kryuchkov offered $ 1 million in bitcoins to a company employee in order to install malware into their computer system. In the future, the Russian planned to demand a ransom from the organization for non-disclosure of commercial information.

American law enforcement officers did not rule out that there is a team behind Kryuchkov that coordinated his actions.

The verdict in the case will be delivered on May 10. Egor Kryuchkov faces up to five years in prison and a $ 250,000 fine.

We will remind, the FBI detained the Russian in August 2020. Although the name of the company that Kryuchkov allegedly intended to attack was not disclosed in court documents, Tesla founder Elon Musk previously stated that his corporation was the target .
